Welcome to Second Grade! In Second Grade, students continue to practice phonograms and spelling words in Spalding, review facts, time, and other important skills in Math, practice writing a detailed paragraph in Writing, practice skills from our Treasures Reading Series and Spalding book in Reading, and study many different units in Science and Social Studies. Students are eager to learn new skills and share their previous knowledge from their earlier grades. This is a great year to see students' progress in Reading, Writing, and Math.
I grew up in Anderson, Indiana. I went to Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana where I received a Bachelor of Science in Social Studies Education in 2001. I began teaching Social Studies at Gilbert High School in 2002. In 2004, I taught Social Studies at Highland Junior High School. In 2005, I decided to take a big leap of faith and try my hand as an elementary teacher. At a small charter school in Gilbert, I began teaching fifth grade and by the next year I moved to second. I taught seven years in second grade at Gilbert Arts Academy before moving to Augusta Ranch Elementary 2012 where I taught three years of second grade a well. This is my 2nd year at Neely Traditional Academy teaching second grade. As you can tell, second grade is by far my favorite to teach.
